mar 21, 1804 - Napoleonic Code enacted
Description:
This was the day that the Napoleonic Code, which was Napoleon's set of laws was enacted. The code had many strengths including laws that gave all men equality before the law, it got rid of birthright privileges, and it granted freedom of religion. However, this law was weak when it pertained to women and minors because the code stated that women could not vote, that they owed complete obedience to their husbands who had complete ownership of their property, and fathers were allowed to put their children in jail for up six months at a time.
