The Committees of Correspondence were provisional Patriot emergency governments established in response to British policy on the night before the American Revolution throughout the 13 colonies. They served as a network of communication throughout the 13 colonies between Patriot leaders. The Committees of Correspondence were formed in cities and regions throughout the Americans colonies. The most influential Committees of Correspondence were located in Massachusetts, Rhode Island, New York, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia and North Carolina.
