Description:
The Nicaraguan Revolution was fought to overthrow the Somoza Dynasty because of its use of violence and high levels of poverty. Eventually, the Sandinistas, a group of rebels with Marxist beliefs and connections to communist Cuba, began an organized rebellion. in 1979, President Somoza was overthrown, ending 46 years of dictatorship by the Somoza family. The Sandinistas governed Nicaragua.
