may 3, 1765 - The Quartering Act
Description:
Due to the damage and debt caused by The French and Indian War, colonists needed a way to protect the natives and other potential enemies. The Quartering Act was passed on May 3, 1765 by the British to keep soldiers in the colonies. This required the American colonists to pay for places for the British to stay, whether it be in their own homes or at inns/hotels. Of course, the colonists didn't approve of this act due to it being a big weight to support an extra in a hotel or own homes. To protest, some of the colonists wouldn't provide the soldiers with human needs like food and water.
