and Mexican immigrants
The Irish mainly immigrated due to the potato famine. Many were trying to leave to find a new source of food. The Germans mainly immigrated soon after an increase of revolutions. After a failure of a revolution, there was a wave of political refugees to immigrate to the U.S. Soon after Mexico was defeated by the U.S, the Annexation of Texas occurred leading many Mexicans to be residents of the U.S.
