The first influenza pandemic was in 1918-1919 that killed more people than the Great War. This global outbreak of Influenza was also known as the Spanish Flu. This was a deadly influenza pandemic and was the first of the two pandemics involving H1N1 influenza virus. The second pandemic involving H1N1 influenza virus occurred in 2009 known as the swine flu.
