Description:
This was when Bolivia gained its independence as part of Peru. With the unified armies of Simon Bolivar and Jose de San Martin, Bolivar was able to beat the Spanish at the Battle of Ayacucho in Peru. This won the independence of the Peru. An upper portion of Peru was named Bolivia in Bolivar's honor, and this later became its own country.
