Description:
Colombia was originally made up of modern day Colombia, Venezuela, and Ecuador. They were very unhappy with the caste system and Enlightenment ideas also influenced them to gain independence from Spain. Spain acknowledged them as an independent country in 1819. Colombia abolished slavery after they became their own nation.
