feb 1, 2003 - Space Shuttle Columbia Disaster
Description:
Space shuttle Columbia broke up upon returning to earth and reentering into Earth's atmosphere, killing all seven astronauts on board. NASA suspended any space shuttle flights for more than two years as the accident was investigated. The investigation informed us that a large piece of foam fell from the shuttle's external tank and broke a part of the spacecraft wing. This mission was the second after the Challenger disaster.
