oct 1, 1869 - Kiwi Involvement
Description:
At the end of this decade, more than fifty ships were involved in the "blackbirding" and slave trades that sent slave labor to Fiji, Queensland, Tahiti, and other islands in the region. Many of these ships were commandeered and crewed by New Zealand men. Official reports were created by British consuls in the area to determine the number and specific ships involved.
