Description:
-Sodium is extracted from molten sodium chloride in a Down's cell. The sodium chloride is mixed with calcium chloride to lower its melting point. The two elements are kept apart by a steel gauze in the cell.
-Discovered during the contemporary history modern (metal age). It describes the historical period from approximately 1945 to the present.
-Sodium is used for:
-making salt
-washing soda
