mar 22, 1765 - Stamp Act
Description:
British Rationale: Required tax on all manner of printed materials to raise revenue. Taxes were given to British Soldiers in New World for protection.
Colonist reaction: Merchants and shopkeepers were hardly hit by the tax. It conveyed colonial opposition to the Stamp Act, and Colonists still believed that they can’t tax without representation.
