Corneille is said to be the creator of french tragedy, he was a member of parliament for most of the years he wrote plays. His plays reinforced the idea of good morals. His characters found a sense of duty to do what was correct, no matter what the personal cost was. That reinforced the idea to the community that they should do the same.
