jan 1, 450 - Anglo-Saxon settlement in Britain

Description:

Whilst Anglo-Saxon is an ancestor of modern English, it is also a distinct language (much the same as Latin is an independent language, but a basis of the romance languages). In the fifth and sixth centuries, the Angles, Saxons and other Teutonic tribes invaded England, and the English language developed from these combined dialects.
As a language Anglo-Saxon (or Old English) existed in much variation from modern English. It had grammatical gender, declensions (variation of the noun form), conjugations (variation of the verb form), tense-form and case endings.
