Description:
Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty (START) was proposed by Reagan to the Soviets, it proposed a large reduction in strategic forces. The negotiations between the United Stated and the Soviet Union continued for 10 years before a final treaty was signed. START was the most complex arms control treaty and also it removed around 80% of nuclear weapons in existence in 2001. The START was a form or deterence as it slowed down the development of nuclear weapons and allowed for the Cold War to come to an end.
