Description:
The accord was signed by 35 countries, including the United States and the Soviet Union. It addressed a wide range of global issues including the Cold War and the U.S.-Soviet relationship. This was also to encourage some freedom for civilians in Europe after the relations were improved. The signing of this declaration helped to highlight the values and beliefs that were similar between the ideologies of communist and liberal democratic countries. The Helsinki Accord proved important to the end of the Cold War.
