aug 11, 1965 - The Watt Riots

Description:

The Watt Riots were a series of racist calls from the whites to the black peoples of Los Angeles. The black people rioted against the whites to stop accusing them as they were facing political and economic isolation. This relates to the Outsiders because in the novel some of the characters are very young who are getting drunk and hurting themselves and others. The conflicts between whites and blacks resembled the issues between the Greasers and The Socs. The Socs are basically the older brothers of the greasers, because of the killing and fights they have for almost no reason. In conclusion the Watt Riots are for the police to help the kids and go against getting drunk and to drive at the same time. Basically the impact on the characters would be that if people go against drunk drivers it might cause less accidents and save lives of the the characters in the book.
