Description:
In his driveway in Jackson, Mississippi, Evers was shot by a white supremacist named Byron De La Beckwith. After volunteering in WWII, he joined NAACP in 1952, traveling throughout Mississippi encouraging other poor African Americans to vote and join the civil rights movement. He played a big role in gathering witnesses for the Emmett Till trial.
