mar 13, 1754 BC - Code of Hammurabi

Description:

This was one of the oldest written documents to be deciphered. This code not only included societal laws but many laws about medical malpractice that were used to form some of the laws that we use today. Physicians became a stakeholder in the malpractice debate because they are the ones that have to follow the laws in the code. Patients also became stakeholders in the malpractice debate because they are the ones being affected by the physicians failure to follow the laws.
