may 1, 1689 - Toleration Act
Description:
Passed by the English Parliament after the Glorious Revolution, granted religious freedom to Trinitarian Protestant dissenters from the Church of England. This Act, which was a significant step towards religious diversity in England, followed the Glorious Revolution that deposed the Catholic King James II and brought Protestant William and Mary to the throne. However, the Act did not grant freedom of worship to Catholics, Jews, or other non-Trinitarian Protestants.
