Walter Elias Disney was born in Chicago, Illinois.
Walt's family moved to a farm in Missouri. His love for animals grew while he cared for them.
When Walt was nine years old, the Disney family moved to Kansas City, Missouri. Walt worked before and after school everyday to help his family.
Eighteen year old Walt announced that he was going to become an artist. He left his family home and moved in with his brother Roy who supported his dream.
Roy and Walt Disney formed "Disney Brothers Cartoon Studio" where they hired their friend, Ub Iwerks, and many other artists. They worked on Alice cartoons.
Walt married Lilly Bounds, an artist at the studio, and continued to work hard and overcome obstacles in his career.
After recovering from losing artists to competing companies, Walt and Roy come up with Mickey and Minnie Mouse to help their company business. Steamboat Willie was the first synchronized sound cartoon.
In 1937, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs was the companie's first full-length cartoon movie with music, color, and action. It was a big hit.
Disneyland opened in 1955 on a piece of land Walt bought in California.
Walter Elias Disney died. He had already started contruction on Disney World in Florida, but his brother Roy took over his brother's duties and dreams.
Roy Disney, Walt's brother, opened Walt Disney World. He made one of Walt's last dreams come true.
