21 oct 1805 año - Battle of Trafalgar Nationalism Impact: 1

Descripción:

The Battle of Trafalgar was a naval battle fought by the British Royal Navy against the combined Spanish and French navies that occurred of the southwest coast of Spain, west of Cape Trafalgar. During the battle, 27 British ships defeated 33 French and Spanish ships.
Prior to the battle, the French Empire under Napoleon Bonaparte was the dominant military land power on the European continent ,while the British royal Navy controlled the seas. During the course of the Napoleonic Era, the British empire imposed a naval blockade on France, which affected trade and Kept the French from fully mobilising their naval resources. Despite several attacks on the British blockade, the French were unable to inflict a major defeat on the British, while the British where able attack the French through land and sea quite easily.
The Battle of Trafalgar also affected French Nationalism negatively as France had lost a battle against the English(which were their primary rivals) and a critical battle that would have destroyed the British blockade if they had won and would have allowed the French army to mobilize and expand their naval resources.
