The Boston Tea Party even occurred on December 16th, 1773. Colonists disguised themselves as Native Americans and dumped 340 chests of the British East Indian Company Tea (92,000 pounds of tea) into the Boston Harbor. The event occurred due to the fact that the government had placed a tax on tea and the colonists protested against the tax.
