Benjamin Bloom was a significant contributor not only to the field of Instructional Technology but largely and primarily, his contributions were intended for the field of education. In 1956, Bloom with with collaborators Max Englehart, Edward Furst, Walter Hill, and David Krathwohl initially published Bloom’s Taxonomy which was later revised in 2001. This Taxonomy was designed to organize higher order thinking and learning. The timing of the initial publishing of Blooms Taxonomy suggests that Bloom benefitted from a post-World War 2 emphasis on both teaching and learning as it was keyed to providing a more interactive and customized approach to learning as well as defining a more structured and repeatable way of approaching learning.
