Brown V Board of Education, after several similar cases arose, became name to represent all case of segregation in public schools. Thurgood Marshall defended the plaintiffs with the argument that segregation in public schools violated the "equal protection clause" of the 14th amendment. After not being able to decide on this issue, the supreme court justices reconvened and Justice Warren was able to have every one agree that segregation in public schools is unconstitutional.
