Descripción:
Located in Chiapas, Mexico. Has a lot of structures, monuments, and high quality reliefs which were all made out of limestone. Was most prosperous during the time of Lord Shield Jaguar II and Bird Jaguar IV. Shield Jaguar contributed carved lintels, stairs with hieroglyphic writing, and stele. The most famous work is a lintel on a yotoot depicting Shield Jaguar’s wife. It showed his wife to perhaps promote his lineage since it was his principal wife. One picture depicts the wife bloodletting. Bloodletting was critical in religious practices for the elite. Bloodletting along with burning incense brought about hallucinations which were believed to “travel to other realms”. Structure 23 houses all of these.
