The Sugar Act (5 Apr 1764 Jahr – 5 Apr 1764 Jahr)
Beschreibung:
The Sugar Act was passed on April 5th 1764. The Sugar Act was also known as the American Revenue Act or the American Duties Act. This act aimed to end the smuggling trade in molasses and sugar from the French and Dutch West Indies. It lowered the previous tax rate, but also enforced the collection of the taxes. When products were made from either sugar or molasses, the resulting products were sold at a higher price. This act was repealed in 1766 and it was replaced with the Revenue Act.
