The Constitutional Convention (14 Mai 1787 Jahr – 17 Sept 1787 Jahr)
Beschreibung:
Originally, the founding fathers said that they were going to meet in order to make changes to the Articles of Confederation. However, they decided it would be better to scrap the Articles and start from scratch. What is taught in school often paints the picture that the convention was a one day thing. That isn't true. The convention lasted from this date all the way to September of 1777. The Constitution that came out of this convention gave more power to the federal government than the Articles of Confederation. This shift in power is significant because the national government from this point actually had some bite to go along with its bark (the supremacy clause). Also, this power shift created a theme of Federalists vs Anti-Federalists. This argument about how power should be distributed has continued even into today.
