During this period Rococo art flourished and basically was the French reaction to the serious and dramatic tone of Baroque art. Rococo sculptures would show the same qualities: informality, gaiety, a focus on matters of the heart and a known avoidance to seriousness. Beginning in the French court at the Palace of Versailles, Rococo art would travel to other countries. Rococo would later be forgotten due to the French Revolution that would bring the new era of the sterner Neoclassicism style.
