After Lenin negotiated with Germany in ending Russia's involvement in World War I, he wanted to keep a hold of the Bolsheviks's power. Yet, he could not avoid a civil war spewing in Russia. The Red Army was held by the Bolsheviks and anti-Bolshevik armies started to initiate the civil war prompting many deaths and victory to the Red Army and new societal changes in Russia.
