The second five-year plan was instituted. It was called the great leap forward. Many modern machines were bought in order to march the production of the West.They also attempted to create steel with furnaces rather than in a factory which in cause weekend the steel not strengthened it, the things made from steel all were poor quality and broke quickly. Commune farms lied to the government saying they produced more grain than they actually did, this caused famines throughout the communes Despite their efforts, this plan failed in the end and output was actually decreased from the first year and this project was discontinued.
