Letters from a Farmer in Pennsylvania (2 Dez 1767 Jahr – 11 Feb 1768 Jahr)
Beschreibung:
A series of essays written by lawyer John Dickinson in which he argued against the Townshend Acts. He claimed that only the colonial elected assemblies had the right to raise revenue, and that they would set an unwanted precedent for taxation without representation, meaning that the colonists could not back down. The letters provided unity among opponents to the taxes and changed how the colonists thought about the role of government.
