The Seven Years’ war was caused by commercial rivalries and political differences and was fought in Europe, India, the Caribbean, and North America by the British and Prussians against France, Austria, and Russia. In India opponents allied with local leaders, in the Caribbean, the Spanish joined with the French against the British, and in North America, the war merged with the French and Indian War. The British fought little in Europe, letting the Prussians do the work. Where they fought, the British were successful against their enemies. This war allowed the British to establish the empire that they eventually did. (4.1)(4.3)
