Beschreibung:

War between the United States and Spain over the independence of Cuba and the sinking of the USS Maine. The war resulted in the United States allowing Cuba to exist as an independent nation and gaining a large presence in the Philippines. The war showed American imperialism at its height, as it was willing to fight with other powers for territories that it did not need or had not had as a major goal to take (manifest destiny).
