The Gilded Age started around the 1870's and is era in American history where there was great economic growth. It was a time where men were able to be substantially wealthy through questionable methods (corrupt). These types of men were known as ROBBER BARONS and many became wealthy through the creation of TRUSTS. Trusts were a way to reduce economic competition which would then allow prices to be higher, giving them more money while making the population poorer.
