Ebony Maw, who has been in an inter-dimensional prison since Thanos died the first time, uses Time Stone protector and his overseer Doctor Strange's absence to break out, steal a sorcerer's staff, revive some of his outrider monster army, and escape the Avenger base to the battle. when he arrives, he causes the Agent to use the Soul Stone to send the five protectors: Thor, Black Widow, Black Panther, Doctor Strange, and Vision, along with himself and all 6 Stones into the Soul Stone's pocket world for an indefinite amount of time. Yondu escapes without his money, and Maw escapes with Thanos's body and the gauntlet, and sets up a small but brutal empire in the unknown regions.
