The Great Purge is when Stalin eliminated all the people who opposed him in the Communist Party, including the Bolsheviks who were involved in the Revolution of 1917. The people who stood trial were executed or sent to labor camps. After the Great Purge, Stalin had killed 8 million to 13 million people and gained full support and control of the Soviet Union.
The Great Purge was more important than the collectivism of agriculture because the Purge resulted in an unopposed totalitarian government, allowing Stalin to do whatever he desires without facing any consequences.
