The Enlightenment, also called the Age of Reason, stretches between 1650 and 1800 in England but started internationally 1620. In France, the Enlightenment started in 1715. The era is connected with new ways of thinking and analysing the world. Rationalism, Empiricism, Criticism, Egalitarianism, and Deism was important parts.

The Enlightenment became a starting point of the middle class when people became more literate and educated. People's actions also started to change and common sense, and self-control was further developed. Formal style and elegance appearances started to appear. Due to the globalisation and colonization the society might get access to new products such as tea and chocolate and the standards of living increased.
The society developed in a lot of other ways as well, Neoclassical Architecture become popular and science, art and literature flourished. The period brought advancement of ideas like. progress, tolerance, fraternity, constitutional government and separation of church and state.
The French Revolution was an important part of the period as it affects the world's view on regime and democracy. It took place between 1789 and 1799. The American Constitution of 1789 was also an important occurrence. This happening caused the world to look differently on freedom and rights and a new phenomenon called liberalism was introduced.
Major Writers of the Enlightenment were, for example, Newton, Mary Wollstonecraft, Rousseau and Benjamin Franklin.
