The first inauguration of Reagan was held on Tuesday, January 20, 1981, on the West Front of the United States Capitol in Washington, D.C.. This was the first inauguration to be held on the building's west side. The second inauguration of Reagan was held privately on Sunday, January 20, 1985 in the Grand Foyer of the White House, and publicly the following day, at the United States Capitol in Washington, D.C.
