The First Crusade (1 Jan 1095 Jahr – 1 Jan 1102 Jahr)
Beschreibung:
The First Crusade was the first step taken by the Christians to reconquer the Holy Land. Launched by Pope Urban II in 1095, the crusade was acting partially against the Muslim Seljuk Turks, who had taken land from the weakening Byzantine Empire. The Pope hoped to seize the land back and regain holy cities such as Jerusalem, which had been taken over by the Muslims. The crusades had several long-term impacts on Europe, such as the development of sugar plantations and an increase in trade activity. (3.1)
