Beschreibung:
The Meji Restoration, which happened from 1868 until 1878 was a revolution that happened in Japan where the Japanese modernized. This restoration happened as a result of a US naval commander, by the name of Matthew Perry traveled to Japan and forced them to open their trade ports and trade with the US. After this, Japan realized they needed to modernize so that they could keep up with all the other countries. Japan did many things to change and improve their country, for example, they improved their military by creating new metal warships and they modernized their infantry. Along with that, they brought in some western culture and mixed it with Japanese culture, and they made a new railroad system.
