The Renaissance?
• Started in Italy
• Revival of classic learning and wisdom after a long period of cultural decline and stagnation during the middle ages.
• Humanism, confidence in the possibilities of human thought and creation.
• Discovery and exploration of new continents.
• Growth of commerce and trade.
• Inventions paper, printing the mariner’s compass, and gunpowder etc.
The Renaissance is the rebirth of Europe, a period when scholars became more interested in studying the world around them, when art became life and when Europeans began to explore new lands. Arab scholars preserved the writings of the ancient Greeks in their libraries. When trade. from cities in northern Italy came into contact with Arabs, they exchanged ideas as well as goods. Many Cristian scholars moved to Italy from Greece after the Byzantine empire fell to the Turks in 1453.
The Renaissance influenced painting, sculpture, and architecture. Painting became more realistic and focused less often on religious topics. Rich families became patrons by commissioned great art. Artists advanced the Renaissance style of showing nature and depicting the feelings of people.

King Henry VIII is the one of the most famous kings in English history.
• Initiated religious restructuring (reformation)
• Cut all ties to the church of Rome.
• Established the church of England and made himself the supreme head of the church.
• Turbulent time in England
Was married with a woman and had children. His child was Queen Elisabeth the first. Queen Elisabeth took over the throne In 1558 and rules for nearly half a century. Died in March 24th, 1603 with considerable success.

• England become a super power
• Naval power, defeating the Spanish armada.

• Never married, virgin queen
• Loved fine clothing and jewellery, role model and fashion icon.
• After her died she become a national symbol, strong and decisive power.
