Beschreibung:

The First American Party System consisted of the Federalist Party (founded by Alexander Hamilton, supported by John Jay, John Adams, and John Marshall) and the Democratic-Republican Party (founded by Thomas Jefferson, supported by James Madison). The Federalist opposition was formally the Republican Party but was called Democratic-Republicans by the Federalists to compare them with France's radical democracy. They remained as the dominant powers in US politics until 1815, when the Federalists disbanded.
