o Viral
o infectious agent that causes economic and environmental disturbances.
o The infectious agent is a fungus that are found in plants where the plants itself are unable to absorb nutrients or water because of dead root tissue. Since Phyopthora is a water mold, it spreads through water and human activities that seize in wet circumstances, where it can be easily washed off to other plants.
• Symptoms/Transmission:
o Starvation, dizziness, fainting, fatigue
• Treatment: No treatment, but water should be distributed evenly to each plant with proper regulation of moistness for a period of time
o Anti-fungus
o An irrigation system must be assembled so that water avoids the roots
• Historical Events:
o 1840s (Ireland): A million deaths from starvation and related causes. A million migrated, leaving their homes
o 1843: appeared in US
o 1916: in Germany that killed 700,000 people
