Beschreibung:

son of Henry IV and Bertha of Savoy. King of Germany from 1099, Holy Roman Emperor from 1111. Forced his father to abdicate in 1105. Henry's reign coincided with the final phase of the great Investiture Controversy, which had pitted pope against emperor. By the settlement of the Concordat of Worms, he surrendered to the demands of the second generation of Gregorian reformers and renounced his right to investiture. Married Matilda of England in 1114; no heirs.
