The Peloponnesian War was a war fought between Athens and their allies and Sparta and their allies. It was sparked by the tensions created by the corruption in Athens surrounding the use of the funds raised by members of the Delian league. Sparta and their allies won. This victory spawned numerous additional conflicts, however. This war stripped Athens of its reputation as a moral and intellectual leader and weakened the Greek Peninsula as a whole. (2.2)
