Siege of Madrid (8 Nov 1936 Jahr – 29 März 1939 Jahr)

The Nationalists began a heavy artillery bombardment in the October of 1936, of Madrid, supplemented by German aircrafts. The advance to Madrid was stopped at the Casa de Campo, but the Republican government moved to Valencia nonetheless.
The USSR and Mexico provided weapons to the Republican fighters, which arrived on October 4th. The Soviet tanks and aircrafts proved to be more significant in quality compared to the German and Italian aircrafts that were available to the Nationalists at that time. The Republicans also held an advantage in manpower, including regular troops, militiamen, and the International Brigades which arrived on the 8th of November. This was another 3500 men for the defence of Madrid. In the west of Madrid, there was a stalemate by the end of November.
