Jomon Period (1 Jan 13000 Jahr v. Chr. – 1 Jan 300 Jahr v. Chr.)

The period was named after their pottery. A jomon was a rope pressed into a clay vessel to form a design. The clay pot was then fired to imprint the design.Japan's inhabitants during this time were gatherers, fishers and hunters.
