-Benefit: The spread of firearms created more advancements in the firearm such as wheel locks.

-Cost: The more that empires began to find out about firearms, the more they felt the urge to expand as they were ahead in military technology so other countries would be fighting people that had guns with swords. This expansion resulted in army casualties that we would not see without the firearm.
