"Notes on the State of Virginia" (1 Jan 1780 Jahr – 1 Jan 1785 Jahr)

In the late summer of 1780, a French politician by the name of Francois Barbe--Marbois, as secretary of a French legation to the United States, sent an inquiry for information to each of the original thirteen states. After receiving the request to Virginia, T.J. begins compiling data and commentaries for the next five years, which he eventually sends to Francois Barbe-Marbois in 1785 in a French edition entitled as, "Notes on the State of Virginia". In 1787 a man by the name of John Stocksdale publishes the first English edition of the work.
